First Draft of the Quick and Dirty Legion Dungeon Guide is up!

My raid tanking guides for previous expansions have been pretty successful, so I wanted to expand them to dungeons for Legion.  Right now they just include simple tanking strategies for normal mode, but I will expand that to heroic and mythic once I get more testing in.

I’ve been working on this guide for quite a while, and using it a lot for myself because there are a lot of bosses to keep track of and it’s easy to forget what they all do. I hope it’s helpful for those in beta, or for those who aren’t, something to keep in mind when you experience these dungeons for the first time after August 30th.

For easy reference, you can find this guide in the “Legion Beta Guides” sidebar to the left, and once the expansion releases, under “Quick and Dirty Tanking Guides”.

Quick and Dirty Hellfire Citadel Tanking Guide

As usual, this guide is the distilled essence of what is needed for tanks to jump into their first few attempts of bosses in Hellfire Citadel. You won’t find any in-depth strategies here (though you might find them here). Instead, you’re going to get just enough information to wrap your head around the encounter; a trickle of strategy, not a firehose. This guide is ideal for those attempting Normal and Heroic Hellfire Citadel. And, as always, if you have any cool tips or tricks, please mention them in the comments!

The Quick & Dirty Tanking Guide for Blackrock Foundry

This guide is the distilled essence of what is needed for tanks to jump into their first few attempts of bosses in Blackrock Foundry. You won’t find any in-depth strategies here (though you might find them here). Instead, you’re going to get just enough information to wrap your head around the encounter; a trickle of strategy, not a firehose. This guide is ideal for those attempting LFR, Normal, and Heroic BRF.

The Quick & Dirty Tanking Guide for Highmaul

This guide is the distilled essence of what is needed for tanks to jump into their first few attempts of bosses in Highmaul. You won’t find any in-depth strategies here (though you might find them here). Instead, you’re going to get just enough information to wrap your head around the encounter; a trickle of strategy, not a firehose. This guide is ideal for those attempting LFR and Normal Highmaul, though the mechanics are identical to Heroic Highmaul (if only requiring a more in-depth knowledge of what’s going on).

This guide is essentially the same one that I posted to Wowhead, except with more Brewmaster-specific information.

The Quick and Dirty Tanking Guide for Siege of Orgrimmar

Here is the information you need to know as a tank for all 14 encounters in Siege of Orgrimmar. I won’t cover the mechanics that don’t concern tanks for simplicity’s sake, so if you’re looking for a raid-wide strategy then sadly this is not the place. (Icy-Veins should cover your needs in that department.) For the most part, this guide should apply to LFR, Flex, and Normal difficulties, and tell you things like when you should taunt and where you should tank stuff.

The Quick and Dirty Tanking Guide for Throne of Thunder

This is a basic guide for tanks in Throne of Thunder, specifically from the perspective of normal 10 mans (if the 25 man strategies happen to vary significantly from those listed, please let me know). It isn’t intended to be a strategy guide or a resource for raid leaders. Instead, it just provides tanks with the information they will need to know in any given fight, like how many tanks are required and how many debuff stacks they need to swap at.

The Quick and Dirty Tanking Guide for Mogu’shan Vaults Normal

As usual, I expect you to know the basic mechanics of each fight and I only describe the stuff tanks might need to know that might not be immediately obvious. I’ll update this guide as I learn more, but it’s not meant to be super detailed.

Quick Things I Learned from Tanking 10 Man Dragon Soul

Dragon Soul. Perhaps a more fitting name would be “Raid of the 1.5 Tanks.” Nearly every fight has a place for you to go cat form, or for non-druid tanks to sit around and dance. If they don’t have that opportunity, then it’s just a 1 tank fight to begin with. I like to think that this instance was designed to give feral druids one last go at being that tank who dpses, because damn there are a lot of opportunities to do so.
