In this guide, you’ll find simple tanking strategies for every five-man dungeon in Legion. It covers normal, heroic, and mythic (though mythic is still being iterated on).
Assault on Violet Hold
Full Guide: Assault on Violet Hold
In this dungeon, you’ll face two randomly selected bosses, then the final boss, which will either be Fel Lord Betrug or Sael’orn.
Trash
- Trash spawns from portals which appear randomly around the room. You have to kill the portal keeper to despawn the portal.
- Look for interruptable spells.
- Watch for cleave attacks. Some you can interrupt, some you can move out of.
- Always face trash away from the party.
- Avoid tanking on stairs because some of the effects can be hard to see there.
- Before the final boss, Lord Malgath, the orc who has been floating around opening all the cells, finally engages you. He has a cleave and summons adds. He is only a miniboss, but the final boss will attack once Malgath dies.
Festerface
- Cleave Move behind boss during Congealing Vomit.
- Change Position Drag the boss to the Congealed Goos while you help kill them. The Goos spawn from Congealing Vomit. They can’t be tanked, but they do need to die one at a time.
- Pull the boss onto the puddles that appear from killed Goos so that he’ll eat them. Otherwise, they’ll turn back into Congealed Goo in 10 seconds.
- The trick here is that goos have to die at different times because it takes a few seconds for the boss to eat each puddle.

- In heroic, it’s even more important that the Goos die because they keep the boss’s energy from reaching 100. At 100 energy he casts the party-wiper Uh Oh.

- Change Position Move away from the big magical spheres, Force Bombs when they are summoned, and be prepared to run through the waves they create on explosion. Cordana Felsong
- Positioning Requirements Place the boss between you and the edge of the platform so you don’t get knocked off by Knockdown Kick. This ability knocks you both down and back, so you’ll be slightly incapacitated.
