Here is the information you need to know as a tank for all 14 encounters in Siege of Orgrimmar. I won’t cover the mechanics that don’t concern tanks for simplicity’s sake, so if you’re looking for a raid-wide strategy then sadly this is not the place. (Icy-Veins should cover your needs in that department.) For the most part, this guide should apply to LFR, Flex, and Normal difficulties, and tell you things like when you should taunt and where you should tank stuff.

I actually downed this boss a long time ago, but as this is one of the more challenging fights in Throne of Thunder, I thought other people might want some insight.
As a brewmaster, you’re most likely going to be kiting bats for this encounter. It’s what you’re good at, might as well embrace it. The downside is that if you fail, it’s a guaranteed raid wipe. So don’t fail (I did — lots of times).

The question I get the most often is not “How should I prioritize my stats” or “Can you write this Weak Aura for me”, it is “How do I tank Horridon as a Brewmaster?” There’s no doubt that it’s a difficult fight for most tanks, and monk tanks face their own unique challenges. But it’s also my favorite fight this expansion, explicitly because it’s requires mastery of two basic tank skills: add pickup and predictable damage mitigation.

This is a basic guide for tanks in Throne of Thunder, specifically from the perspective of normal 10 mans (if the 25 man strategies happen to vary significantly from those listed, please let me know). It isn’t intended to be a strategy guide or a resource for raid leaders. Instead, it just provides tanks with the information they will need to know in any given fight, like how many tanks are required and how many debuff stacks they need to swap at.

Heroic Elegon is very similar to normal mode. In fact, if you can clear normal without anyone dying then you should give heroic a try.
Also known as “Four Kings”, in Mogu’shan Vaults.
Not to be confused with Wind Lord Mel’jarak, even though Blade Lord Ta’yak has three abilities and a whole phase related to wind. This fight requires good positioning and timer-watching for the damage dealers and healers, and tests a tank’s ability to use active mitigation at predictable intervals.

This fight isn’t all that different from normal mode. The mechanics are mostly the same, you just have to handle more damage. Most of your wipes will likely be the result of your damage dealers failing to clear out the shadow adds near the end or due to the enrage timer.
