Here are my thoughts on Blizzcon 2013:
Blizzcon
Here are my predictions and plans for Blizzcon. I mentioned some of them on the last Monk Meditation show.
Heroic Siege of Orgrimmar: First Six Bosses Cheatsheet
None of these bosses are all that different from their normal / flex incarnations, but I thought I’d share my notes that I took while working on them. For the general tanking strategy of normal modes, please review my Quick and Dirty Tanking Guide.

Some Brewmaster DPS Tips
Maximizing DPS as a tank can be a little different than as a straight up damage dealer. For one thing, we have Vengeance and it’s a pretty big deal. As a tank, pulling in good numbers is almost as important for you as it is for a rogue, so here are some things I like to keep in mind (though I’m not going to go over ranking, that requires weird play that’s rarely good for your raid).
It’s time to panic when the beer is gone: brewmaster nerfs and you
Nerfs suck. Brewmasters have sustained quite a few in the past few months, and it’s easy to freak out. Sometimes I want to be angry, too. But it’s time to chill out and reason through this.

Brewmaster Roundtable
As promised, here’s the footage of Tuesday’s Monk Meditation. I think it went incredibly well, and I loved hearing opinions from people with completely different areas of expertise. I hope we can do another one in the future.
The Quick and Dirty Tanking Guide for Siege of Orgrimmar
Here is the information you need to know as a tank for all 14 encounters in Siege of Orgrimmar. I won’t cover the mechanics that don’t concern tanks for simplicity’s sake, so if you’re looking for a raid-wide strategy then sadly this is not the place. (Icy-Veins should cover your needs in that department.) For the most part, this guide should apply to LFR, Flex, and Normal difficulties, and tell you things like when you should taunt and where you should tank stuff.

Brewmaster Patch 5.4 Survival Guide
There are a lot of goodies in this patch, so I’m going to stick with the stuff that affects PvE Brewmasters.
In summary:
- You’ll be doing less damage, thanks to Vengeance and Keg Smash nerfs.
- Chi Brew might be worth speccing into, sometimes.
- Xuen should work better.
- Rushing Jade Wind has been redesigned. Still your best AoE talent choice.
- Chi Burst no longer requires a target so you can use it like the old RJW.
- Some new glyphs, most of which aren’t terribly exciting.
- A new legendary! Plus changes to the old legendary gems.
- Our stat priorities will sort of change because we’re reaching ridiculously high levels of crit, and changing tier bonuses.
- Proving Grounds, which will be the new best way to practice your Brewmastery skills.
Tier 16 Trinket Analysis for Brewmasters
Here are the trinkets you should look into for in Patch 5.4, Siege of Orgrimmar. I’ve included boring tank trinkets, full dps trinkets, and my personal favorite, the trinkets that land somewhere in the middle. At the bottom I give my best attempt at a “Best-in-Slot” list, if that’s all you’re here for.
Why You Shouldn’t Compare Total Damage Taken
As a tank, you’re often desperate to find ways to improve and to compare your performance with others. There are ways to do this, but looking at Total Damage Taken is not that way. I know it’s tempting. To improve as a damage dealer, you often compare Total Damage Dealt. So this is the same idea for a tank, right?
No. It’s a good instinct! You’re trying to improve and you’re almost there, so don’t squash that urge! But there are better things to compare.
